DPH reports that the risk of the novel coronavirus – newly named Covid-19 last week by the World Health Organization – is still low in Massachusetts.
As of late last week, the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) had spread to more than 8,000 people around the world (but mostly in China) and has caused more than 210 deaths in China.
DPH last week informed hospitals and other providers to be on the lookout for potential coronavirus patients.

DPH’s Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management has announced details of its “Know, Plan, Prepare” campaign to alert individuals and organizations about disaster preparedness materials.
The U.S. House of Representatives on June 4 passed S.1379, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019, which the Senate had passed in May.
